How to build your brand online (without burning out)
Building your brand online can feel like a full-time job on top of your actual job. There are so many platforms and so much advice that it's hard to know where to start.
Here's the good news: you don't have to do everything. You just have to do a few things well and keep doing them. Here's where I'd focus.
1. Get your website right first
Your website is home base. Every ad, post and email sends people there, so it needs to work.
Make it work on phones. Most of your visitors are probably on their phone. If your site is hard to use on mobile, you're losing people.
Make it fast. People leave slow sites. Compress your images and use decent hosting.
Help Google find you. Use the words your customers actually search for in your page titles, headings and copy.
Make the next step obvious. One clear button to contact you or book a call beats five competing options.
2. Pick your social platforms, don't try to be everywhere
You don't need to be on every platform. Figure out where your people actually spend time and show up there consistently.
If you sell to other businesses, LinkedIn is probably worth your time. If your work is very visual, Instagram makes sense. Two platforms done well beats five done badly.
And actually talk to people. Reply to comments, answer messages, share things your customers post. Social media is supposed to be social.
3. Create content that's actually useful
The best content answers questions your customers already have. If people keep asking you the same thing, that's a blog post, a carousel or a short video.
Mix up your formats, but more importantly, be consistent. A simple content calendar helps a lot. Even one solid post a week adds up.
4. Use ads with a clear goal
Paid ads can speed things up, but only if you know what you want from them. More website visits? More leads? More people who know your name?
Start small, target the right people by location and interests, and check your results often. Keep what's working and drop what isn't.
The thing that ties it all together
Consistency. Same look, same voice, same message everywhere. That's what turns a bunch of random posts into a brand people recognize.
If you want help getting your website or social looking the part, let's talk.
